Wow I installed photoshop and WOW BRUSHES
BRUSHES!
I spent way too long fussing around with settings and downloading things to try and get some really nice as-close-to-traditional-media-as-possible tools. And I like what I’ve got so far! Some nice charcoal, pastel, thick graphite pencil, and watercolor brushes, which make sketching and playing around with color super enjoyable.
Most valuable to me was the stumpy pencil brush I grabbed which makes sketching in photoshop really REALLY REALLY fun.
So here’s my test subject while I messed around with all that, my zedonk. Ack help me name her. My list of dumb names so far: Sugarsnap, Basil Bray, Eyebright, Fiddlehead, or Witch-Hazel. Help?
OH NO I made a dumb cute MLP OC because oh no I’m a dumb weenie.
She’s a zedonk! Thought it would be cute and feasible since both species already exist in the FiM universe, and gosh just look how cute zedonks are with their stripety legs:
I might get rid of the lighter toned underbelly to simplify the color palette, since most characters in the show have a pretty simple design scheme, but idk.
DUMB BACKSTORY STUFF: Her father was a zebra and her mother is a donkey. Her mother was a travelling merchant who met her father in africaland or WHEREVER zebras come from in FiM, which is where she was sired, but her father left soon after (haven’t decided if he was just a flake or if he had to leave for some other more noble reason). After that her mother settled down somewhere more pony-populated in Equestria, where the zedonk didn’t know any other zebras, or even know about them existing until she was old enough to ask why she was the only one with funny markings and anatomy out of all the other donkey foals. Once she was older she gained more of an interest in her heritage, and began studying traditional zebra potion magic in Canterlot. So now she’s a practicing alchemist, with a small potion shop in the city where she makes her income.
Can’t think of a name for her yet, oh well!
