Took another quick mantis video, here’s one of the (assumed) females at 5th instar, just a little over two months old.
Gettin BIGGER!
Trinket is so cute and fuzzy since her last molt. ;A; ♥ She’s just about 2.75” across now!
I drew and animated this entirely on my iphone while waiting for a PAX panel to start! The (free!) app is called Pixation if you want to try.
TECHNOLOGY IS AMAZING…..
HAHAHA WOW this whole design and pattern and everything took only an hour from original idea to completion.
It’s a kabutomushi! AKA, Japanese rhinoceros beetle. I’ve always wanted to raise some but they’re nigh impossible to obtain in the States. U-U So I knit one instead!
While I’m super amazingly happy with how it came out, I still need to tweak the pattern a bit - reverse the knit and purl stitches on the underside so the ridges pop in instead of out, and do the shell embroidery in a darker color because you can hardly see it at all right now.
Otherwise WOW LOOK AT THIS CUTIE. Once I’ve fixed up the knitting pattern, I’ll post it here for free!!
Tiny little thing.

The Death’s-head Hawkmoth is one of the only species of moth that can emit sound. It does so by expelling air from the pharynx (basically the throat), to make… tiny adorable squeaks.
Fantastic anthropomorphised bug illustrations from Public and Private Life of Animals.
The art in this book is so good! I managed to trace the illustrator to a “Herbert Breviere”, but can’t find any works list or complete information on him.
