YAY FINISHED.
Photo Finish and Hoity Toity as PONY SQUIDS. These were commissioned by InkyNotebook. The accessories took a lot of work! D:
Bobtail squid have a symbiotic relationship with bioluminescent bacteria which inhabit a special light organ in the squid’s mantle. The bacteria are fed a sugar and amino acid solution by the squid and in return hide the squid’s silhouette when viewed from below by matching the amount of light hitting the top of the mantle. What a wonderful thing nature is.
ADORABLE LITTLE BABIES. Bobtail squid are even cuter than cuttlefish. 8~8
I know what I’m basing my next cephalopod knitting pattern on~
So the SUPERVISING DIRECTOR OF MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC is buying some of my squids…….

I’m
just

Legit kinda choked up and amazed that the DIRECTOR IN CHARGE of something I’m making SILLY FAN ART PLUSHIES off of loves and is buying my stuff, since something like this has never happened to me.
And after that LaughingSquid feature I had to sort through like 50 notes and comments about them and wanting orders oh my gooossshhh.
RIP mumbles, died knitting squids until he drowned in them.
I’m just so happy and amazed that people like the silly things I make. ;A; THE WORLD IS SO STRANGE AND AMAZING.
LOOK WHAT I’M GETTING COMMISSIONED TO MAKE
THEY ARE MY FAVORITE SIDE PONIES YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND
FREAKS OUT AND DIES
Here’s that “super secret pony squid” I mentioned when I first posted about the squids… It’s Derpy!
Everfree was a huge success selling these, they all sold out within the first day (save for one last Pinkie squid, which sold within 10 minutes of day two).
AND JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS, I’m taking commissions for pony squids now!! Please go here for more info! (Reblogs are appreciated to spread the word. ;D )
If future me had told past me that I’d one day stay up until 4am to sew a tiny felt hat for a little my-little-pony-knit-into-a-squid plushie, I’d have pissed myself laughing.
:Ta
Rainbow Dash squid is done! She took way too long jfc working with so many color-changes is a pain. (btw, my camera can’t pick up purple all that well, it’s not that dark in person.)
Next, Applejack, then the full set is done!
Figuring out how to translate their cutie marks into such tiny little knitting stitches is hard! Especially since if I embroider too much, it’ll look bad. ;; It’s like trying to figure out minimalist pixel art, but the pixels are wider than they are tall.
Now I’m just trying to figure out how to do the full color scheme on rainbow dash without killing myself…
Squid WIPs!
Twilight’s the only finished one of the lot so far. Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Rarity all need cutie marks, while Rarity needs a bit of a makeover - I want to redo her mantle fins and long tentacles with a brighter purple that I got, and give her some light blue eyelids with sparkly felt, ooh la la. Then Rainbow Dash and Applejack!
Planning on doing a little mini Spike, too. Maybe as a tiny jellyfish. :3c
PONY SQUIDS ARE BACK!
I’ve been working to have a BUNCH of pony squids for sale at Everfree, including several sets of the main 6 and as many others as I can manage. Here’s my first go at Pinkie squid! Sans cutie mark for now, all in all not too bad for a first go, making up most as I went… like the ruffly mantle fins and curlycurly tentacles (which were crocheted rather than knit like the rest).
YAY SQUIDS.
